Wabtec Gains Momentum in Marine Industries with Two New Orders

WILMERDING, PA – May 20, 2019 Wabtec Corporation (NYSE: WAB) announced today engine orders with two leading companies in the marine industry. The deals build upon the company’s position in the maritime market.

“These orders further validate our products ability to provide smart, safe, emission compliant, and reliable performance our customers need to be successful,” said Tammy Gromacki, Wabtec’s general manager of Marine, Stationary, and Drill. “Our industry-leading marine diesel engines reduce key emissions by more than 70 percent without compromising fuel efficiency and maintenance intervals.”

Danish channel partner, VMS Group, signed a contract to supply a shipset comprised of two 8L250MDC and two 12V250MDC marine engines, tools and spare parts for Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic fleet’s newest ship. The vessel will be built by Ulstein Group at Ulstein Verft AS shipyard in Norway and is scheduled for delivery in 2020.

Reinauer Transportation Companies, LLC, also ordered two mechanical propulsion 6L250MDC marine engines for its newest articulated tug-barge. The vessel will be built by Senesco Marine LLC in North Kingston, Rhode Island is scheduled for delivery in 2020. The vessel will conduct east coast and ocean operations.

The L250 and V250 Series Diesel Engines meet the EPA’s stringent Tier 4 and International Maritime Organization’s Tier III emission standards without the use of urea after-treatment. The diesel engines integrate an upgraded control system, high-pressure common rail fuel injection, two-stage turbocharging, and advanced exhaust gas recirculation. This design saves customers up to 75 percent in space, avoids the hassle and cost associated with handling urea infrastructure, while reducing the time and expense maintaining hardware.
